FACTOR 55
FLATLINK

Red Factor 55 Flatlink

what is it?

The Factor 55 Flatlink is and alternative to the winch hook that manufacturers like Warn provide at the end of their winch rope. It eliminates the clasp, which can sometimes fail.

Factor 55 Flatlink with Bow Shackle and Winch Rope

WHAT'S IT FOR?

The flatlink provides a “closed” system for recovery, which means that there is no likelihood that the winch rope will accidentally come apart from the recovery system.

WHY YOU'D BUY IT:

The flatlink looks good sitting flat on your fairlead, rather than a hook dangling and rattling around. It’s great if you like to use soft shackles.

TONY’S TIP

Factor 55 sell a rope guard that installs over the front of the flatlink to protect the winch rope from damage.

I have found that I can do the same thing by putting electrical tape over the rope at the end of the winch line.

New Winch Setup on Power Wagon

The Power Wagon comes with a Warn winch from the factory, but there are a few things you need to do to set it up so that its ready to use.  While I get the winch ready I install a Facor 55 Flatlink.

POWER WAGON WINCH ROPE STRETCH

When you get a new winch rope you need to stretch it out, so that it doesn’t get bunched up on the drum.  See the Factor 55 Flatlink in action as part of the winch rope system.
